The OMAC Users Group was formed in 1994 as an organization for companies to work together and:

* Collectively derive common solutions for both technical and non-technical issues in the development, implementation, and commercialization of open, modular architecture control (OMAC) technologies.
* Promote OMAC development among control technology providers and OMAC adoption among end users, OEMs, and system integrators.

AutomationML

The companies Daimler, ABB, KUKA, Rockwell, Siemens, netAllied and Zühlke together with the University of Karlsruhe and the University of Magdeburg jointly define and standardize the Automation Markup Language (AutomationML™) as an intermediate format for the Digital Factory.

Our vision is, that:

AutomationMLâ„¢ will close the gaps between production design and shopfloor through interoperability between tools for all phases of the engineering process based on one lossless and scalable data format as open standard with high market acceptance.

Open DeviceNet Vendor Association

ODVA is an international association comprising members from the world's leading automation companies. Collectively, ODVA and its members support network technologies based on the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP™). These currently include DeviceNet™, EtherNet/IP™, and the major extensions to CIP — CIP Safety™, CIP Sync™, and CIP Motion™. ODVA manages the development of these open technologies, and assists manufacturers and users of CIP-based networks through tools, training and marketing activities.

In addition, ODVA offers conformance testing to help ensure that products built to its specifications operate in multi-vendor systems.

ControlNet International

ControlNet International is an association comprised of vendors, distributors and users of factory automation solutions incorporating ControlNet™ networking technology. ControlNet technology provides real-time control over communication networks that deliver high-speed transport of both time-critical I/O and messaging data, including upload/download of programming and configuration data and peer-to-peer messaging on single or redundant physical media.
