Recently I came across this YouTube video from Sesame Street where they show crayon making in the late 70s or 80s. It's interesting to see the old ladies at work.

I don't have a TV but every once in a while when I'm on the road I stumble across a show on the Science channel called "How It's Made". Obviously, it's a cool show. Especially for an automation geek. You get to see a lot of different control processes. They too have a show on how crayons are made. Interesting to compare the differences.
